Our History

The JLCMW was founded in 2018 when Temple Beth Sholom and Congregation Or Atid merged their religious schools in order to enrich their students' Jewish experience, with a combined student body. Since then, the JLCMW was joined by students from B'nai Torah MetroWest (a successor of Congregation B'nai Torah) and Congregation Beth El, as well as unaffiliated students. We are a pluralistic community and welcome any student regardless of denomination or affiliation.

The JLCMW Experience

During our sacred time together at the Jewish Learning Collaborative of Metrowest (JLCMW), we strive to create a coherent Jewish experience for all of our students.

Each day, through hands-on learning, students interact with a wide variety of Jewish content, providing a cohesive and holistic background on a wide range of Jewish ideas and practices—that forms our core curricular pillars. Each pillar is explored, developed, and deepened  through an integrated, age-appropriate curriculum with an emphasis on:

  • Torah Study: Accessing the stories of our people through text study and the Torah Godly Play approach
  • Authentic Experiences in Jewish Culture: Prayer opportunities, song, holiday celebrations – learning, doing, and creating personal meaning
  • Hebrew Language: Building a vocabulary of living, active words as well as familiarity with core Jewish concepts in Hebrew and building competency in decoding prayers and text
